Our Preschool Students Have Successfully Secured TÜBİTAK 2209-A Project Support for the Second Time
In the second call of the 2023 TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program, students from the Department of Preschool Education within the Department of Basic Education have once again been granted support for their project titled “Little Science Ambassadors in Natural Disaster Awareness,” which was accepted in the first call of TÜBİTAK 2209-A. Following their initial project, preschool education students under the academic supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Demir Öztürk have quickly applied for the TÜBİTAK 2209-A second term call, adding another project to their endeavors.
Under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A framework, second-year preschool education student Songül Alataş submitted a project titled “Let’s Not Run Out of Water: Efficient Water Use by Water-Friendly Children” to TÜBİTAK with the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Demir Öztürk. This project has also been deemed worthy of support in the second call. As part of the project, Songül Alataş plans to implement it with five-year-old children from kindergartens affiliated with the Muş Provincial Directorate of National Education.
Upon the project's approval and after obtaining the necessary permissions according to the project timeline, an educational program focusing on water efficiency and how to use water effectively will be implemented. The project will cover topics such as the importance of water, the water cycle, the chemical formula of water, rainwater, wastewater, blue, green, and gray waters, cistern structures, and water conservation measures. The educational program will include games and various methods and techniques.
The project aims to raise awareness about our country’s vital water resources, instilling this awareness starting from children, contributing to a culture of efficient water use in society, ensuring the transfer of water resources to future generations, and supporting the national economy.
